Collection 15 is a collection of three stories that introduces, drills, and uses ALL the Dolch Sight words plus other phonetic words with the CVC, Silent e, and Consonant-y Spelling Rules. These Spelling Rules, although the students are expected to spell words when the rules are first introduced, are taught here specifically to help students with reading. For example, a student coming across the words hoped and hopped in a story, because they know the Spelling Rules, would recognize hope + ed as a Silent e Spelling Rule and hop + ed as a CVD Spelling Rule and pronounce these two words correctly for that reason. For example, a student coming across the word “prettiest” would recognize that as a Consonant-y Spelling Rule and know that the word was formed from pretty where the y was changed to an i before adding es. Each story will have a list of vocabulary words at the beginning as well as questions to answer at the end.

Collection 16 is a collection of six Crossword Puzzles that reviews the CVC, Silent e, and Consonant-y Spelling Rules taught in the last section of Schuler Phonics CORE and previously introduced in Collection 15: Learn to Read Phonetically.

Collection 16 then introduces the CVC Accent Rule for Multisyllable words, also taught on pp. 154-162 of Schuler Phonics MASTERY.
